The 12 universities and university colleges in the Øresund Region have more than 150,000 students in total, making the Øresund Region a stronghold for research and education. However, each institution has a different background and history, and they vary in size, the number of students, and areas of specialisation - some specialise in one or two areas of study, while others are multi-faculty institutions and offer study programmes in a range of subjects.
Below, you will find a short introduction to each of the universities and university colleges as well as a link to their homepage, where you can find more information about the institutions and the study options they offer to international students.

Lund University | Lund University was founded in 1666. With eight faculties and a multitude of research centres and specialised institutes, it is today the largest unit for research and higher education in Sweden. At Lund University a European cultural tradition going back hundreds of years lives side by side with dynamic developments in education and research for the benefit of society, today and tomorrow. Our university has all the advantages of a wide academic range and highly-qualified staff. We offer a rich and diverse academic environment with creative links between students and teachers, international cutting-edge researchers and between university and community. Approximately 42,500 students study within any of the 85 educational programmes, the eighteen international masters programmes or the 1,000 courses.

| University of Copenhagen | With almost 33,000 students and more than 6,000 employees, the University of Copenhagen is the largest institution of research and education in Denmark. The purpose of the University – to quote the University Statute – is to ’conduct research and provide further education to the highest academic level’. The many subject areas of the university is covered by one of the sixth faculties: Faculty of Theology, Law, Social Science, Medicine, Arts and Natural Sciences. Approximately one hundred different institutes, departments, laboratories, centres, museums, etc., form the nucleus of the University, where professors, lecturers and other academic staff, as well as most of the technical and administrative personnel, carry out their daily work, and where teaching takes place. These activities take place in various environments ranging from the plant world of the Botanical Gardens, through the high-technology laboratories and auditoriums, to the historic buildings and lecture rooms of Frue Plads and other locations.

| Malmö University | Malmö University was founded in July 1998. As the eighth largest in the country, with around 20,000 students, Malmö University has rapidly become one of the Sweden’s most important seats of learning. Each year we are offering a total of about 65 study programmes and 240 subject courses at undergraduate level. Some of these study programmes and several subject courses are offered in English. Research at Malmö University is multi-disciplinary and researchers from different disciplines often work closely together. Studies on current societal phenomena are considered important. The city of Malmö provides its inhabitants with a blend of different cultures, trends and atmospheres. It is possible to find people from every corner of the world living here, and over 40 languages are spoken in the town.

| Copenhagen Business School | CBS regards itself as a European university and strives to be among the top business schools in Europe. Our research and teaching is structured in line with international standards, and we measure our level of quality in comparison with the top foreign universities. CBS has around 14,000 students and an annual intake of around 1,000 exchange students. With this number of students as well as around 400 full-time researchers and around 500 administrative employees, CBS is the one of the 3 largest business schools in Northern Europe. CBS offers a range of study programmes at two faculties, including 11 Bachelor programmes, 10 Master's programmes, 9 Executive Master's programmes and PhD programmes. In addition, CBS runs a series of study programmes through Open University as well as a Summer University Programme.

| Roskilde University | Roskilde University is a state university founded in 1972 with the objective of providing research and education at the highest level in the fields of natural science, social science and the humanities. These activities at Roskilde University are organised in ten departments; degrees are offered in a wide range of subjects at Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. levels. Many study programmes are now being offered in English at both undergraduate and graduate levels, thus creating an exciting and inspiring study environment for both Danish students and students coming from abroad.

| Technical University of Denmark | DTU is a self-governing university that covers most engineering disciplines and educates engineers at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels. The University has approximately 900 researchers, 6,000 students, 600 PhD students and 400 international students a year in English-language programmes. In addition, we offer a comprehensive continuing education programme. With activities in, among other areas, biotechnology, communications technology and nanotechnology, DTU has a high international standard within the technical-natural sciences, based on 15 individual departments as well as a number of research centres on campus in Lyngby, north of Copenhagen. DTU houses a coherent innovation system that stretches from research and teaching to patents and licensing, industrial collaboration and science park activities.

| Kristianstad University | Our campus is created from the idea that you, as a student, shall have access to modern information technology, inspiring meeting places and good services. We offer a highly qualified faculty in a friendly atmosphere. Our new and former students are our most valuable resource. Programmes and courses are offered in the humanities, in social, natural, behavioural and health sciences, business administration and engineering. Internationalisation is an issue of importance at Kristianstad University, whether it involves Swedish students going abroad or international students studying here. We also provide all students with an international working perspective at Campus. Our university is linked with partner universities all over the world. At the same time we co-operate extensively with the local community.

| IT University of Copenhagen | The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The University was established in 1999. It is funded to undertake both theoretical research and applied research into the interaction and growing importance of information technology to society. ITU covers all aspects of information technology, including natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialisation of IT and offers diplomas and master’s degrees in Information Technology.

| The Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture | The School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts is one of the world's oldest schools of architecture. The school is located in Holmen, a historic area in transformation. The architecture that we work with on the drawing table every day may be seen in full scale right in front of our windows. There have never been so many buildings under construction as at this very moment and it invites to reflection. There is a need for the School of Architecture as an incubator for architecture, and we wish to demonstrate to the world who we are, what we think and what we are capable of.

| Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences/Alnarp | The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences is a university with a clearly defined role in society: to take responsibility for the development of learning and expertise in areas concerning biological resources and biological production. This responsibility stretches over the wide-ranging fields of agriculture, forestry and food industry to environmental questions, veterinary medicine and biotechnology. A comprehensive viewpoint, inter-disciplinary approach and applicability are keywords in SLUs' research and teaching and in the contacts with industry and society. The profile of The Faculty of Landscape planning, Horticulture and Agricultural Science is within the fields of landscape, garden and agriculture. A main issue is to develop the unique competence of the interaction between man and environment, the working conditions of the green sector and the biology of the senses.

| Royal School of Library and Information Science, Denmark | The Royal School of Library and Information Science provides education for library assistants, Bachelor’s Degree graduates, librarians, Master’s Degree candidates and PhD candidates on a research basis. Its aim is to provide further and higher education and run research within Library and Information Science up to the highest educational level, and safeguard the freedom of research and contribute to expanding knowledge of work methods and results within its subject field.
